1. so, tell me a little aboutyourself.

you don’t need to explain everythingfrom birth to present day. relevant facts about education, yourcareer and your current life situation are fine.

2. why are you looking (or why did you leaveyou last job)?

this should be a straightforward question to answer, but it cantrip you up. presumably you are looking for a new job (or any job)because you want to advance your career and get a position thatallows you to grow as a person and an employee. it’s not a goodidea to mention money here, it can make you sound mercenary. and ifyou are in the unfortunate situation of having been downsized, staypositive and be a***rief as pos***le about it. if you were fired,you’ll need a good explanation. but once again, staypositive.

3. tell me what you know about thiscompany.

do your homework before you go to any interview. whether it’***eingthe vp of marketing or the mailroom clerk, you should know aboutthe company or business you’re going to work for. has this companybeen in the news lately? who are the people in the company youshould know about? do the background work, it will make you standout as someone who comes prepared, and is genuinely interested inthe company and the job.

4. why do you want to work at xcompany?

this should be directly related to the last question. any researchyou’ve done on the company should have led you to the conclusionthat you’d want to work there. after all, you’re at the interview,right? put some thought into this answer before you have yourinterview, mention your career goals and highlight forward-thinkinggoals and career plans.

5. what relevant experience do youhave?

hopefully if you’re applying for this positionyou have bags of related experience, and if that’s the case youshould mention it all. but if you’re switching careers or tryingsomething a little different, your experience may initially notlook like it’s matching up. that’s when you need a little honestcreativity to match the experiences required with the ones youhave. people skills are people skills after all, you just need toshow how customer service skills can apply to internal managementpositions, and so on.

6. if your previous co-workers were here,what would they say about you?

ok, this is not the time for full disclosure. if some people fromyour past are going to say you’re a boring a-hole, you don’t needto bring that up. stay positive, always, and maybe have a fewspecific quotes in mind. “they’d say i was a hard worker” or evenbetter “john doe has always said i was the most reliable, creativeproblem-solver he’d ever met.”

7. have you done anything to further yourexperience?

this could include anything from night classes to hobbies andsports. if it’s related, it’s worth mentioning. obviously anythingto do with further education is great, but maybe you’re spendingtime on a home improvement project to work on skills such asself-sufficiency, time management and motivation.

8. where else have you applied?

this is a good way to hint that you’re in demand, without soundinglike you’re whoring yourself all over town. so, be honest andmention a few other companie***ut don’t go into detail. the factthat you’re seriously looking and keeping your options open is whatthe interviewer is driving at.

9. how are you when you’re working underpressure?

once again, there are a few ways to answer thi***ut they should allbe positive. you may work well under pressure, you may thrive underpressure, and you may actually prefer working under pressure. ifyou say you crumble like aged blue cheese, this is not going tohelp you get your foot in the door.

10. what motivates you to do a goodjob?

the answer to this one is not money, even if it is. you should bemotivated by life’s noble pursuits. you want recognition for a jobwell done. you want to become better at your job. you want to helpothers or be a leader in your field.

11. what’s your greateststrength?

this is your chance to shine. you’re beingasked to explain why you are a great employee, so don’t hold backand stay do stay positive. you could be someone who thrives underpressure, a great motivator, an amazing problem solver or someonewith extraordinary attention to detail. if your greatest strength,however, is to drink anyoneunder the table or get a top scoreon mario kart, keep it to yourself. the interviewer is looking forwork-relatedstrengths.fine to saymoney is important, but remember that nothing is more important toyou than the job. otherwise, you’re just someone looking for abigger paycheck.

20. would you rather be liked orfeared?

i have been askedthis a lot, in various incarnations. the first time i just drew ablank and said, “i don’t know.” that went over badly, but it wasright at the start of my career when i had little to no experience.since then i’ve realized that my genuine answer is “neither, i’drather be respected.” you don’t want to be feared because fear isno way to motivate a team. you may got the job done but at whatcost? similarly, if you’re everyone’***est friend you’ll find itdifficult to make tough decisions or hit deadlines. but when you’rerespected, you don’t have to be a complete bastard or a lame duckto get the job done.

21. are you willing to put the interests of xcompany ahead of your own?

again, another nasty question. if you say yes, you’re a corporatewhore who doesn’t care about family. if you say no, you’re disloyalto the company. i’m afraid that you’ll probably have to say yes tothis one though, because you’re trying to be the perfect employeeat this point, and perfect employees don’t cut out early forjimmy’***a***all game.

it is situational. if you… ; if you …. ethics andprofessionalism

22. so, explain why i should hireyou.

as i’m sure you know, “because i’m great” or “i really need a job”are not good answers here. this is a time to give the employer alaundry list of your greatest talents that just so happen to matchthe job description. it’s alsogood to avoid taking potshots at other potential candidates here.focus on yourself and your talents, not other people’s flaws.

23. finally, do you have any questions to askme?

i’ll finish the way i started, with one of the most commonquestions asked in interviews. this directly relates to theresearch you’ve done on the company and also gives you a chance toshow how eager and prepared you are. you’ll probably want to askabout benefits if they haven’t been covered already. a good genericone is “how soon could i start, if i were offered the job ofcourse.” you may also ask what you’d be working on. specifically,in the role you’re applying for and how that affects the rest ofthe company. always have questions ready, greeting this one with ablank stare is a rotten way to finish your interview. good luck andhappy job hunting.

ponder for a moment, and then ask your interviewer “what aspect ofyour job do you find most challenging”.

i would ask the interviewer,“whydo you like to work here?”

24. where do you want to be in 5 toyears?

they dont want to hear in the same job you are interviewing for.ultimately, the hr people are searching for someone who can handlethe job now, and has the potential to grow into a high levelmanagement job in the future. do you have those goals too?

25. would you rather work for a big companyor a small one?

favorite answer: i’d treat any company like it was my ownregardless. total ownership of the situation can get you a longway.

general , the worst answer was “i don’t know.” i’ve since learnedthat “it depends,” with a couple of examples, is perfectlyappropriate

你为何想进这家公司?

错:公司的培训机会很多,我想来好好学习。

分析:你是来学习的?那我干嘛花钱雇你?正确的回答是,不要只谈希望公司给你提供多少福利、培训,而应让对方觉得你能为公司创造价值。 你认为你适合干什么?错:只要公司需要,我什么都能干。分析:你什么都能干?那要我干什么?你必须让人觉得你有抱负,但也脚踏实地。你觉得自己最适合干什么,就老实告诉人家,“服从需要”之类的空话,效果适得其反。 你对薪水的期望值如何? 错:贸然回答。南阳论坛分析:应届大学生在面试中谈薪酬是个大忌。在一般大公司看来,没有经验的大学生没有资格谈薪水。况且新人的起薪都一样,你谈了,人家也不会给你加薪,反而会招致反感。即使对方问你对薪水的期望,你也应谨慎应对,或者干脆用“我相信公司会承认我的工作价值”之类的话搪塞过去。

错:我能拿到多少钱?某家公司是不是你们的分支机构?分析:薪水问题前面已讲过。问“某家公司和你们搭不搭界”更是低级,这些基本情况理应事先了解清楚。你一问出口,面试官基本也就断定他以后不会再和你搭界了。好的问题是:以你的个人经验,你认为新员工要学些什么,会遇到哪些困难?在公司里,我的发展机会如何?公司与某公司(竞争对手)相比,有哪些长处和短处?能否简单介绍一下公司文化? 招聘是人力资源管理第一道大门,设计好针对性的问题很关键。

笔者根据多年来的招聘工作经验,总结了招聘时该提出的问题,很有参考价值。

一、跟我谈谈你自己

1.你比我面试的其他应征者强在什么地方?  2.你最好的朋友怎样评价你?从现在到将来的5年时间内,你希望做些什么?  3.如果你可以轻松改变你性格中的一件事,那将是什么?为什么?  4.描述你的管理哲学。   5.成功和失败对你而言意味着什么?

二、教育背景

1.你参加过什么课外活动?   

2.你过去学到了什么知识,你为什么要选择这些主修课?你选择辅修课的原因是什么?你最喜欢那一门课程?最不喜欢哪一门?

3.为什么你会在非专业领域求职?  

4.你从简历中提到的实习里学到了什么?

三、谈谈你的工作经历 

1.告诉我你最近从事过的三种职业,解释你做过的工作。你工作的方法,你的工作伙伴和上司,你的老板以及你的团队成员。  

2.你最喜欢的工作是什么?为什么?  

3.告诉我过去最好的/最坏的老板?  

4.回想一下,你能够做些什么来改进你同那个老板的关系?  

5.在你从事过的每个工作岗位上,有没有管理过人?  

6.你具有组织能力吗?

7.你能合理管理时间吗?   

8.你怎样应付变化?   

9.在压力下你能好好工作吗?  

10.如果可以重新开始职业生涯,你会有什么不同行动?  

11.你愿意独立工作还是同其他人一起合作?

四、让我们谈谈目前的(或上一份)工作

6.你的主管留下任务,随后的一整周都不在公司,你无法联络到他,并且也不能完全理解这项工作,你将怎么做?  

7.为什么你到现在为止还没有收到任何公司的聘请书?  

8.谁给你提供的聘请书?你担任什么职位?薪水是多少?  

9.如果你离开目前的工作,公司会有什么情况发生?  

10.如果在目前的工作做得那么开心,为什么要离开?
